My buddy Sean works in clay and other mediums. Recently he did a wood
firing of pottery. I went out on a cold night as he and his friend
Dave got the kiln going.

The kiln gets super hot. But didn't generate enough heat to keep
old Dave warm. He had to build a fire. It was a cold long night
for the boys. The kiln has to be fed at very short intervals to maintain
proper temperature.

I love this last image. It's a long exposure and shows the kiln building.
It was about 9 in the evening and the mixture of natural horizon city lights
and a mercury vapor security light that was nearby.Click on it to enlarge the picture
and you can see the stars peeking through a surreal night sky.
