Amanda and Kyle

Amanda and Kyle got married at Ferguson Hall in Spring Hill. The historic plantation home is a wonderful backdrop for a wedding and offers many fine backdrops. The weather was great for an outdoor event and everything went well. Thanks to Amanda, Kyle and all the kids for making my job easy. Thanks to the Ferguson Hall folks for the interesting history!

Wedding at the Camp

  I returned To camp to photograph Marion and Matthew's wedding. Marion's parents have run Camp Country Lad for going on the 50th year. She chose to have her wedding at the camp. It proved to be a perfect location. Many of the wedding attendees came down from New York City. It was great seeing and meeting some great northern folks as they got to experience a little slice of southern beauty and hospitality. Good times were had at the square dance and swimming in the lake. I took over 1,200 pictures and had quite a time with editing. I am showing just a few here. Many of the photos would seem out of context in my wedding folder. Thanks to Marion and Matthew for having me and thanks to the Williams for keeping one of my favorite places on earth intact and beautiful. I'm looking forward to the CCL 50th anniversary.

Bob and Jennifer

At Zak and Suanna's wedding we had the issue of workable backgrounds. It was rainy outside and the church wasn't really set up for what I needed to do. They seldom are. Wedding Incidentals

Interesting things happen at the edges of the events that we call Weddings.

John and Christina

<><><><><><<><>><><><><><<>><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><<><><><><><><>>><<> I shot John and Christina's wedding recently. They are a very laid back couple. It's so enjoyable when people are relaxed. The wedding reception was a whirl of dancing people. John and Christina have surrounded themselves with fun and energetic friends!

<>><><><<>>><>><><><>><><><<><>><<>><<><><<<>><><><<><><><><><><><><><><><>< The low pressure weather system that settled into middle Tennessee the week of this wedding made us all nervous. We had a great location for an outdoor wedding. We just needed the rain to hold off for the service. It all worked out! The rain stopped about 30 minutes before show time. I love shooting on overcast days. The colors are rich and the lack of shadows is very flattering for portraits. The bride and groom looked great! It's cake

I like this cake photo from the recent wedding of Kyler and Ann Marie. Its not often I take the this approach to the cake. I always attempt to get a good picture documenting the precut cake. But I think this image says as much about the reception as it does the cake.

Jade and Will

I prefer shooting outdoors.  I like....no.. love natural light.  

This said... weddings in June in Tennesee can be quite the gamble.

Those involved with coordinating and planning were concerned about

the oppressive heat that we had been experiencing in our area.

But everything worked out great.  I mid day thunderstorm cooled

everything off.  The bride and groom seemed unaffected by the

nervousness of those around.

Once again the job was made easy by being fortunate enough

to have an easy going bride and groom.

Most of the ceremony pictures were done in color.

I did try to double key moments on black and white film.

Black and white film is the only medium that we know

will last for hundreds of years.

This is important when we consider the importance of

weddings as historical events within a family.

Wedding photos are passed down through families

and become visual mile markers that represent us

long after we are gone.

Thanks To Elizabeth for letting me feature these photos

from her wedding.  These are true black and white from film.

Very little digital work was done.  They are good examples of

why I always have a camera loaded with black and white film.

Of course having a great subject doesn't hurt your chances of

getting something magical!

I'll be posting more pictures from this wedding in the next week 

or so.   I have photos currently being processed for two

other great weddings!

I really like these pictures!  

They were taken in a children's sunday school classroom.

We used a large window with textured glass.

Black and white enables you to do away with

contrasting and clashing colors.  

The color scheme for this room was bright primary.

The challenge in circumstances such as this

is to be able to get some photos that look

totally removed from the location.

This wedding was a very sweet

affair.  Small country setting...sweet people..

easy and non stressful.  

Its situations like these that I feel honored

to be part of the experience....

the experience becomes part of me and

affects how a view the world and 

my role as a photographer.
